Thomas Platzgummer

Born in Dornbirn, Austria, studied in Feldkirch, Salzburg, Vienna and Graz. Apart from the classical and romantic focus during the study period, intensive study of contemporary music, early music and opera and operetta.

Member of the salon-age strings Springer, the baroque orchestra Concerto Stella Matutina and the Linus Ensemble Graz.


Since 1998, musical director and conductor of the Murauer operetta festival (rehearse and direct from operettas such as Die Fledermaus, The Gypsy Baron, Vienna Blood, Orpheus in the Underworld, Parisian life, Countess Maritza, The Mikado, Hugdietrichs Brautfahrt, Gasparone, A Night in Venice ...) , since 2003, musical director and conductor of the Chamber Opera Graz (rehearsing and conducting operas by Haydn, Pergolesi, Hasse, Vivaldi, ...). Conductor at Hermann Nitsch's Theatre of Orgies and Mysteries in Prinzendorf. Since 2006, conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory in Graz. Guest conductor at festivals like the Montafon Summer (operas by Gluck and Dittersdorf), the Danube Festival (operas by Vivaldi and Handel), the Feldkirch Festival and orchestras as the Budapest Chamber Orchestra (Beethoven, Brahms, Strauss), the Haydn Orchestra (Bruckner, Mahler , Berlioz, Mussorgsky, Elgar, Britten, Pärt, ...), the Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra Konstanz (Milhaud, Villa-Lobos, Caturla, Igudesmann & Joo, ...), the Graz chamber Orchestra (Bartók, Liszt, Brahms, ...).


2013 among other productions: "La Traviata" at the Vorarlberg State Theatre at the Vorarlberg Symphony, "St. Mark Passion" with Concerto Viennese by Rudolf Leopold Festival Psalm Styriarte and the Festival OsterKlang Vienna, opening concert of the Montafon summer with the Camerata Argentea, opera / operetta productions Grazer chamber Opera and the Murauer Operetta Festival.
