Natela Nicoli comes from a family of musical background and completed her studies in piano and voice with distinction. She has been living in Austria since 1991. Ms. Nicoli was a member of the Graz Opera ensemble where she performed Octavian, Carmen, Cenerentola, Dorabella, Hänsel, Maddalena, Rosina und Olga.
For her outstanding interpretation of Bizet's Carmen, Ms. Nicoli received the prestigious OPERA AWARD in Germany in 1994. Highlights of her career include productions of DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE and LES TROYENS at the Salzburger Festspielen; Rossini’s STABAT MATER under Fabio Luisi at the Wiener Musikverein; LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and VERDI REQUIEM (semi-staged) at the Deutschen Oper Berlin and guest appearances in Seoul,Korea.
She sang CARMEN and DER EVANGELIMANN at the Vienna Volkoper. In the 2007-2008 season she performed in Luc Bondy's production of Salome at the Scala di Milano in March 2007; (RAI-DVD Recording). Outstanding performances include Wiener Musikverein, Gasteig Philharmonie in Muich Concert with Edita Gruberova and Live CD-Recording, in Weimar, in Stuttgart and in the Gewandhaus Leipzig.
